Normandy boasts an impressive number of half-timbered houses, characterized by their wooden structure visible from the outside. Originating in Northern Europe in the Middle Ages, this construction technique was particularly popular in Normandy due to the abundance of surrounding forests. If you're getting married in the region, you may be lucky enough to celebrate your union in one of these beautiful buildings!
Along the English Channel, the Côte Fleurie, and in particular the towns of Cabourg, Deauville, Trouville and Honfleur, are popular seaside destinations. The atmosphere of these towns is astonishing: small fishing ports contrast with imposing casinos and luxury hotels, ultra-modern yachts and lively sandy beaches. If you're dreaming of a wedding with a sea view, Normandy is the place for you!
It's at Honfleur that the Seine flows into the English Channel. From Rouen to Honfleur, the river's branches stretch across the Normandy countryside. The village of Veules-les-Roses, for example, offers an absolutely charming bucolic landscape: flowering meadows, lush green lawns, singing waterfalls, watermills, narrow streets...
When we think of Normandy, we inevitably think of the cliffs of Étretat. Some 30 kilometers north of Le Havre, these imposing rocks are nearly 70 meters high. Their white color creates a disturbing contrast with the blue of the English Channel and the green of the surrounding vegetation. In places, the waves have carved holes into the rock, forming grandiose natural arches. Brides and grooms who have their photo taken from the top of the cliffs will enjoy an exceptional panorama of the rest of the beach.
The other symbol of Normandy is, of course, Mont Saint-Michel. Located on the Brittany border, it's a small rocky island whose flanks are surrounded by medieval fortifications. At its summit stands a magnificent abbey. At low tide, depending on the time of day and the season, you can walk to the island from the shore. Take the opportunity to have your photo taken on the beach, with the mountain in the background. The view is breathtaking!
